Rain
Rain
Written by Matthew Shaun DeGraff
Verse1
Here alone I sit falling deeper into the abyss I can call my home.
I’m so afraid you’ll do me wrong.
It’s been months since you let me go. I know time will tell
but your love’s food to my soul. I’m trying to be strong.
Chorus 1
Because in my heart these flowers slowly wilt and
They turn a shade of grey.
My mouth is dry and open waiting for your rain.
Verse 2
All my life I’ve spent waiting for you.
Someone to share everything that I am and everything that I could be.
When I lay down I often wonder what it would be like to
awaken from my sleep with you lying there next to me.
Chorus 2
Because in my heart this grass is turning yellow
And the sun begins to bake.
My hands are dry and open waiting for your rain.
Verse 3
You told me today that you have found anew.
One to give you the things I could never seem to do.
That perfect world for the imperfect you.
Change of heart you say? I don’t think so.
You fell in love with my love but we were just to blind to see
you never were in love with me.
Chorus 3
But now I know that love is not the answer, it’s how you play the game.
Like sleeping with one blanket and sharing his last name.
I really hope that one day you don’t wake up in a comfort pain.
With children and a mortgage waiting for your rain.
